Immigrant small business week
California Run on Immigrant-Owned Businesses. This Week, We Celebrate Them.
From the restaurant feeding your neighborhood for decades to the corner shop that knows your name, immigrant entrepreneurs are the fabric of California; creating jobs, building community, and driving one of the most dynamic economies in the world.
June 21–27, CA4US is spotlighting immigrant-owned businesses across California and calling on all of us to show up, shop local, and share their stories.
A year ago, ICE raids in Los Angeles devastated neighborhoods, families, and local economies. The June 2025 raids alone cost LA County more than $1B in lost economic activity, and wreaked havoc on LA’s businesses and workers: a survey of LA’s businesses found 82% suffered negative impacts, which rippled to workers, families, and communities.
44% of Los Angeles businesses reported losing more than half their revenue in the aftermath of the raids.
More than half reported loss of daily revenue and decreased customer traffic
59% of employers expressed concern about maintaining their current workforce
70% of businesses experienced staffing shortages following enforcement action; 33% of employers said workers were afraid to report to work
This week we’re celebrating and supporting the businesses who’ve fought to keep their doors open, keep serving their communities, supporting their employees, and driving our local economies.
