CA4US Coalition Members Participate in Los Angeles People's Hearing on Immigration Enforcement

In June, CA4US coalition members joined community leaders, civil rights organizations, elected officials, and advocates at the People's Hearing on Immigration Enforcement: Los Angeles, a public forum documenting the impacts of federal immigration enforcement on families, workers, businesses, and communities across the region.

Hosted at the California Community Foundation, the hearing brought together testimony from individuals directly affected by immigration enforcement, alongside legal experts, advocates, and civic leaders. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass joined the event, underscoring the city's commitment to supporting immigrant communities and documenting the lasting impacts of heightened federal enforcement.

The hearing also featured leaders from across the CA4US coalition, such as California Community Foundation President Miguel Santana, who shared perspectives on how immigration enforcement continues to affect California's workforce and economy. Their testimony reinforced what businesses, workers, and communities have experienced over the past year: enforcement actions create workforce instability, disrupt local businesses, and weaken regional economic growth.

As part of a national series of People's Hearings, the Los Angeles forum will help inform a public record documenting the civil rights and community impacts of immigration enforcement. The hearing follows similar events held in Minnesota and Chicago, ensuring that the experiences of impacted communities help shape the national conversation.

CA4US remains committed to elevating the voices of business, labor, and civic leaders and advancing policies that strengthen California's economy while protecting the dignity and security of the communities that power it.
